Alpha Numeric Paging Service

Alphanumeric paging allows you to receive electronic email on a mobile radio pager for only $6 per month.
Alphanumeric service offers users an email address for their alpha pager. This means that email sent to user@page.sonic.net will be sent to your belt in about a minute - great for urgent mail and mobile communications.
This is a two-part service. Sonic sells gateway access to your pager for $6 per month, paid quarterly with a $6 startup fee. This gives you an email connection to your pager, user@page.sonic.net. This account includes 100 messages per month, with over-messages priced at 10c each.
PageCall sells the pagers and the alpha paging service. The price is $9 per month, which includes alpha as well as standard numeric paging. This means that in addition to your email/pager address, you also get a standard telephone number that non-Internet users can utilize to send you a numeric message. You also need to purchase a pager for between $120 and $170. The PageCall monthly service fee plus Sonic's gateway fee brings your total cost to just $15 per month.
Here's an example of what you'll see on the alpha pager when mail is sent to your special email address. Note the F: (from) and S: (subject) fields. The F: field is truncated to fit. The number 1: indicates that this is the first message. The pager has capacity for many messages, both alpha and numeric.
After pressing the down arrow key (\/) on the pager, you see the next page of the email message.
The menu (M) key gives access to protect and delete message functions, plus clock setup.
Press down again to view the remainder of the message. Total length is limited to 180 characters per message.
The pager offers a silent as well as beep mode, and is made by NEC. Motorola pagers are also available from PageCall.
